Before you start

⚠️Dotdigital AI is an artificial intelligence tool powered by Microsoft Azure’s OpenAI service and ChatGPT, and it might produce incorrect responses. It is crucial to examine any suggestions provided by Dotdigital AI thoroughly before making changes to your SMS campaign.

  • Dotdigital AI runs against a model in Azure that's specific to Dotdigital. The model discards all information after completing work on your campaign.

  • Based on a fair usage policy, we ask you to use Dotdigital AI responsibly. Maximum 200 requests per account every 24 hours.

  • Dotdigital AI can provide suggestions for any language. However, all feedback and instructions are given in the language associated with your account.

What Dotdigital AI can do for SMS

Sending well-written SMS and MMS campaigns to your contacts is an excellent way to increase engagement and improve your business’s reputation.

Dotdigital AI can help you:

  • Change message length
    For example, if you have a large body of text you want to send in an SMS campaign to your contacts, Dotdigital AI can analyse the text and provide a shortened version to fit into 160 characters, which is appropriate for mobile messaging.

  • Check your grammar
    Check for any potential grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors in your SMS and MMS campaigns, and provide a suitable alternative.

  • Add emojis to your message🥳
    Emojis are a great way to add character to your SMS and MMS campaigns. Dotdigital AI can help you include them.

  • Change the tone of your text
    Analyse your SMS and MMS messages and change their tone using a range of writing styles for you to choose from.

  • Rephrase your message text
    If you’ve created an SMS or MMS campaign but think it could be improved before sending, Dotdigital AI can help you to rephrase it however you want.

  • Convert an email campaign to SMS
    If you’ve created an email campaign and want to quickly reuse its content in an SMS message, Dotdigital AI can help you convert all key pieces of information from your email campaign into an SMS message within seconds.

Change message length

  1. On the Content page for your SMS or MMS campaign, select your Message.

  2. Select the Dotdigital AI icon, then select Change length.

  3. Choose either:

    1. Shorten - Dotdigital AI reduces the character length of your message.

    2. Expand - Dotdigital AI increases the character length of your message.

  4. Dotdigital AI then creates a suggestion.

  5. Select Use to replace your original message with Dotdigital AI suggestion, or select Copy to copy Dotdigital AI suggestion to your clipboard, and paste it back into your message or somewhere else.

Grammar check

  1. On the Content page for your SMS or MMS campaign, select your Message.

  2. Select the Dotdigital AI icon, then select Check grammar.

  3. Dotdigital AI automatically scans your message and provides the following:

    • Grammar feedback
      Feedback on the grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors Dotdigital AI detected in the original message.

    • Suggestion
      Dotdigital AI rewritten version of your message with corrections.

  4. Select Use to replace your original message with Dotdigital AI suggestion, or select Copy to copy Dotdigital AI suggestion to your clipboard, and paste it back into your message or somewhere else.

Add emojis 😎

  1. On the Content page for your SMS or MMS campaign, select your Message.

  2. Select the Dotdigital AI icon, then select Add emojis.

  3. Dotdigital AI then creates a new suggestion of your message with emojis added in.
    ​Dotdigital AI sometimes replaces text with emojis.

  4. Select Use to replace your original message with Dotdigital AI suggestion, or select Copy to copy Dotdigital AI suggestion to your clipboard, and paste it back into your message or somewhere else.

Emojis count as Unicode characters in SMS messages. Learn more in SMS message length and Unicode.

Change tone

  1. On the Content page for your SMS or MMS campaign, select your Message.

  2. Select the Dotdigital AI icon, then select Change tone.

  3. Select one or two of the style choices and wait for Dotdigital AI to create a suggestion.

  4. Select Use to replace your original message with Dotdigital AI suggestion, or select Copy to copy Dotdigital AI suggestion to your clipboard, and paste it back into your message or somewhere else.

Rephrase text

  1. On the Content page for your SMS or MMS campaign, select your Message.

  2. Select the Dotdigital AI icon, then select Rephrase text.

  3. Choose one of the rephrase styles and wait for Winston to create a suggestion.

  4. Select Use to replace your original message with Winston’s suggestion, or select Copy to copy Winston’s suggestion to your clipboard, and paste it back into your message or somewhere else.

Convert email campaigns to SMS

This feature is currently in Beta, and may be subject to short-notice changes or improvements.

Dotdigital AI takes the key points from your original email campaign and condenses them to a word count suitable for an SMS message.

There are two ways to convert your email campaigns into SMS messages:

1. From the email campaigns page

  1. Go to Campaigns > Email.

  2. Select the Convert to SMS icon for the email campaign you want to convert.

2. Inside an email campaign

  1. Open an email campaign.

  2. Expand the Dotdigital AI drop-down menu and select Convert email to SMS.
