Access the image manager

There are two ways to access the image manager:

Directly in the app

To access the image manager directly in the app, go to Content > Images.

While editing a campaign, page, or form

To access the image manager from EasyEditor:

  1. In EasyEditor, select Build in the left-side menu.

  2. Expand the Images section.

  3. Select Manage.

View images in the image manager

You can choose to view all images or recently uploaded images in the Image manager.

Select a view

There are two ways to view your image files in the image manager; list view or thumbnail view. To switch between these, select the view icon in the top right and select the view you want.

  • List view

List view allows you to select a column title, such as name, width, height, size, and uploaded, to sort by this parameter.

You can filter by image name in alphabetical order, ascending or descending. Image width, height, and size can be filtered numerically in ascending or descending order. Image uploads can be filtered between most recent or oldest upload date.

Keyboard shortcut: Press Ctrl + L on your keyboard to show the list view.

  • Thumbnail view
Thumbnail view allows you to use the slider to adjust the size of the thumbnails. Move the slider left to reduce the size and right to increase it.

Keyboard shortcut: Press Ctrl + K on your keyboard to show the thumbnail view.

Upload new images

  1. Select Upload image.

  2. Choose the image or images from your device.

  3. Select Open.

You can’t upload duplicate images with the same content to the same account. The system checks for identical image content, not file names, and only allows one version to be uploaded.

Keyboard shortcut: Press Alt and plus (+) on your keyboard to start the upload of an image.

We keep the same image name when you upload your image from your device to the image manager, although we might make minor changes to remove special characters. You can rename your images once they’re uploaded.

Image types and size limit

Accepted file types for images are JPG, JPEG, PNG, and GIF.

The maximum file size for an image that you can upload is 10MB. If you upload an image near the size limit, the system may resize it to ensure successful upload. As a result, the final resolution of the uploaded image may be smaller than what was initially shown during upload.

Use the image manager toolbar

Use the toolbar to preview and edit your images.

Preview images

To preview a full-sized version of an image, select the image and then the Preview icon.

You can also double-click the image in the Image manager.

Rename images

To rename your image, select either the image name or the Rename icon.

Edit an image

To access the image editor, select the image you want to edit and then the Edit icon.

The Image editor has the following features:

  1. Select the image.

  2. Select the Alt text icon in the toolbar.

  3. Add your desired alt text in the Description of your image field.

  4. Select Apply.

Add alt text using EasyEditor

You can also add alt text for each image using EasyEditor:

  1. In EasyEditor, select the image.

  2. In the Styles panel, enter the alt text you want to use.

Editing the alt text of an image in EasyEditor does not overwrite the stored alt text in the Image manager copy of the image.

Remove images from Image manager

  1. Select the image.

  2. Select the Remove (trash can) icon on the toolbar.

  3. Select Okay to send the image to the Recycle bin.

To remove an image from the recycle bin:

  1. Select the Recycle bin folder.

  2. Select the image or images you want to delete.

  3. Select the Remove icon.

Images removed from the recycle bin can’t be recovered to the Image manager, but deleted images used in campaigns still work for those campaigns. This applies to images in the recycle bin and those removed from the recycle bin.

You can download images individually or in bulk.

To do this:

  1. Select the images you want to download. To select multiple images, you can either use CTRL on your keyboard or select and drag with your cursor.

  2. Select the Download icon.

  3. If you select a single image, it is immediately downloaded to your device.

  4. If you select multiple images, you see a message to inform you that the download is being prepared and can be accessed from the exports area when ready. Select Go to exports to access the ZIP file of downloaded images, then select Download.

You can select Okay to close the message and access your download at a later time. To do this, select the Account menu icon and go to Settings > General > Exports.

Copy an image URL

If you need the link to a particular image, select the image, then select the link icon in the toolbar.

Search for images

You can search for images using the search bar in the Image manager.

Enter a keyword in the search bar. You can search by:

  • Object – for example, dog, tree, or car.

  • Scene – for example, beach, city, or forest.

  • File name – enter part or all of the image name.

  • Upload date – enter the first three letters or the full name of a month followed by a year, for example, Jan 2024 or January 2024.

When you search by object or scene, the Image manager uses Dotdigital AI to find images based on what’s actually in them. For example, searching for dog returns all images that contain a dog, even if the file name doesn’t include the word dog.

Search results appear in a temporary folder.

Manage your image storage

The Image manager supports unlimited folders and nested folders.

Create a new folder

To create a new folder, select Add a new folder.

Keyboard shortcut: Press Alt + N on your keyboard to create a new folder.

Organise your folders

You can drag folders to nest them inside each other, or drag them to the Recycle bin if you want to get rid of any.

Rename a folder

  1. Double-click the folder name.

  2. Enter the name you want.

  3. Press the Enter key on your keyboard, or select another area in the Image manager.

Delete a folder

To delete a folder from the image manager, drag the folder you want to delete into the Recycle bin.

Any images inside the folder are added to the recycle bin. Deleted folders can’t be recovered.

Organise your images

Images can be dragged from one folder to another.

To select a group of images, either select and drag your cursor over the group of images, or, hold the ctrl key on your keyboard, and select each image with your cursor.
